Business Growth: When One Door Closes…

When one door closes

When one door closes another opens… or sometimes it’s a window, but ultimately other business growth opportunities will be appear.

If you are like me, even though you realize that this is the evolution of business and life in general, you feel a little sad when this happens.

I have had the opportunity to work with some incredible individuals over the years, many of which I am either still working with, or who still keep in touch. I am so proud of the steps they have taken to grow their business into something they can love doing and make money with.

With every closing door more opportunity for business growth happens. New opportunities are everywhere.

What fabulous opportunities have come your way when one door closed on you?

I would love to know.

Every Penny Counts – or Does It?

Every penny should countI grew up at a time where every penny counted.  This is something that I have instilled in my kids.  In fact, my daughter said just today, “Every penny counts…,” when talking about saving money to buy a car.

While I still believe that every penny counts, I don’t believe that everyone still feels the same way, and really, how can they?  On February 4, 2013, the Canadian Mint, due to the rising costs of making the penny, stopped producing and distributing pennies.  You can read more about phasing out the penny.  While I understand the reasoning, I still find that I am bothered when I pay cash for something and do not get my pennies in change.  I know that the retailer will round it up or round it down, so it all evens out in the end, but I don’t really believe that.  It is actually making me less likely to use cash for a purchase unless I can give them exact change… maybe that’s the idea??

How do we teach our children the value of money, when the penny is no longer considered valuable?  What will replace these old sayings?

“A penny saved is a penny earned.” – Benjamin Franklin

“Look after the pennies, and the pounds will take care of themselves.”- English proverb

Maybe it’s just me and no one else is bothered by this, but I would love to hear from you!
