Business Growth: When One Door Closes…

When one door closes

When one door closes another opens… or sometimes it’s a window, but ultimately other business growth opportunities will be appear.

If you are like me, even though you realize that this is the evolution of business and life in general, you feel a little sad when this happens.

I have had the opportunity to work with some incredible individuals over the years, many of which I am either still working with, or who still keep in touch. I am so proud of the steps they have taken to grow their business into something they can love doing and make money with.

With every closing door more opportunity for business growth happens. New opportunities are everywhere.

What fabulous opportunities have come your way when one door closed on you?

I would love to know.

What Does Partnering Mean to You and Your Business?

Here are 3 examples of how partnering with others can help you grow your business, and achieve the success you are striving for:

Strategic Alliances

Take a look at any successful business out there and you will see that they have more than one product/service offering. It may not always be apparent to the potential client/customer but B2B Strategic Alliances are key to the success of any business. Many Strategic Alliances are formed by partnering with a business that offers a complimentary service or product that your current or potential clients need or want.

What can this mean for your current business? Additional income! In most cases, agreements have been reached and monetary commitments in the form of commissions or referral fees have been set up… or in some cases, the exchange of business leads. Either way, by partnering with another company, you have the potential to greatly increase your business.

Get Help

Hire or contract someone to help you with the Administrative , Social Media, Website, Strategy, and Management of all the tasks, that you don’t like to do, or have time to do.  By alleviating some of your overwhelm, you can concentrate on doing what you do best, which in turn should allow you to concentrate on revenue-building priorities.  By partnering is people who are an expert in what they do, you will benefit in more ways than one.

Mentorship

I highly recommend joining communities where you can learn, through courses, workshops, as well as interact with others that are in your field, who have experienced the ups and downs of running your own business.  We all need someone or a team to bounce ideas off of, explore our options, and get the support we need to keep moving forward.

The Shotgun Approach to all Things Marketing

Shotgun_Approach_to_MarketingWhen businesses are scrambling to gain more clients, meet new prospects and grow company awareness, many resort to the “shotgun approach to marketing.”

This is usually characterized with last minute advertising, a deluge of information that is dumped, unwittingly, on the general public through social media, and knee jerk reactions and immediate changes to all marketing.

Why doesn’t the “shotgun approach to marketing work?”

Ultimately, if there is no plan in place, no strategy for what each marketing piece should result in, as well as measurements, the marketing is limited to today – not the future.

To successfully grow your business you need to be marketing 90 days in advance. You need to understand that the marketing you do now will fill the sales funnel in the future.

Are you making these mistakes with your business?  Contact me to arrange an Online Presence Strategy session.

It Will Only Take 5 Minutes

How many times have you heard this line?Outsourcing - Only 5 mnutes

If you contract your services out, I am betting that you have heard it often.

When people or companies decide that they are ready to ask for help, they are not always ready to relinquish control. They know what they want to have happen, but just don’t know the best way to make it reality. Which is why they have asked for help and reached out to a virtual assistant, social media analyst, or any number of individuals who they believe can assist them.

If it really took just 5 minutes then I imagine that they would have the time to implement it themselves and they would be less likely to ask for help.  It is my job to either assist or complete the project, or job for them, after understanding exactly what they are looking for… and sometimes helping them to become aware of what it is really needed.  It takes time to do a job well.

I find that my more successful partnerships are ones that start with a Strategy Session.  This not only allows us to connect, and get a really good understanding of the business, but also gives me the time to explain the steps involved with helping the business reach their goals.  After our strategy session is over, I do some further strategy and provide a report, that gives them the information they need to move forward on their own, or at the very least, to know what needs to be done, and what to ask for when they contract me or my team, or even decide to connect with someone else.

Partnering in your success.

Fast Forward Through 2012

I notice as I get older, time moves by more quickly.  I know that time itself doesn’t move any faster in actuality, but I know that life get much busier.

2012 was a whirlwind for me.  It was an incredible year of growth, connections, and stepping outside of the box.  I was asked to be a guest speaker on the importance of online presence to building a business after completing schooling at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition in the Spring.  I was invited back to do a full day session in the summer and again the fall.  I thoroughly enjoyed the great conversations and the chance to provide insight that resulted in some big “ah-ha’s” the students.

I also was, and continue to be, immersed in the Women Speakers Association.  This WSA, as we fondly call it, is an incredible melting pot of amazing women worldwide whose mission is to help women get their voice heard.  Women have so much to offer, share and contribute and this forum is being welcomed by many.

At the same time, I have continued to partner with eXtra Contact, and so value my relationship with Gail, Dave & Crystal.  Truly success is about collaboration.  Being a part of a team enables me to be better; provides me with more insight, and more skills to provide to my clients.

Every year I make sure to continue to educate myself and 2012 was no exception.  Keeping on top of the latest trends is important in the level of service I can provide my clients.  Things change so quickly, so this is a continuous effort, but well worth it.

The one thing I regret is not posting on my blog as frequently as I had planned, but I will be adding to it more frequently this year.  Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have.

Here’s to a successful 2013!

Importance of Collaboration To Increase Your Bottom Line

Are You Trading Hours for Dollars?

Where are you at with your business currently?  Are you now at the stage, or closely approaching the stage of  not having any more  hours to trade?  Have you reached your own self-imposed salary cap, even though you thought that by working for yourself the sky would be the limit?

Many of  us hit that same barrier and eventually decide that it is time to expand our reach, our offerings, and more importantly our partnerships.   These partnerships can be in the form of joint ventures, collaborating on information products or seminars, or offering affiliate programs.  No one can do this alone, at least not for the long term.  If you want to get ahead, it’s time to check your rolodex and begin looking for someone you can partner with that will help you both  move forward.

Isn’t it time to stop trading hours for dollars?

Best Laid Plans – Website Still Under Construction

Well, here it is, the middle of August, and I still haven’t spent any time improving my website.  The good thing is that I have been busy with my clients’ website, social media and SEO, but nonetheless, it is important that I get back on track. I am making a promise to, at the very least, add one post a week… feel free to hold me to that.Smile I will also be adding testimonials and look forward to featuring my clients and partners beginning in September.

I look forward to sharing my experiences with you as we move forward.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Salt Spring Island and Business

I love what I do!

It was such a thrill yesterday to take a trip over to Salt Spring Island, just off of Victoria BC.   I had the priviledge of meeting one of my clients, Lynda Monk, owner of Creative Wellness.  She has an incredible business that we are going to be working on today.

I always find it so neat to finally meet someone that you have only connected with by phone and email , and yet  still have built an incredible relationship with.  It was like we had met before, and I felt so welcome.   I am staying in a little cottage and woke looking out over Fulford Bay.   Even though the weather was not what I ordered, it is beautiful. (more on this later).

I’m excited to get started today and love the partnership that I can form with my clients.

Enjoy your day!
